Terms of Use
Last updated 29 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Serene ("we", "us") about using Serene. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please read them, especially the section about what Serene isn't.
What Serene isn't
Serene offers gentle encouragement, breathing exercises and a private journal. It is not therapy, medical care, diagnosis or a crisis service, and its AI messages are not professional advice. Always talk to a qualified professional about your health.
If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, call your local emergency number now, or open “Need support right now?” in the app to find a crisis line.
Your account
You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age for digital consent where you live, if higher) to use Serene. Keep your sign-in details safe; you're responsible for activity on your account. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account.
Using Serene fairly
Please don't:
- break the law, or harm, harass or impersonate anyone;
- try to access other people's data, or probe, overload or get around Serene's security or limits;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer the app, or use automated tools to access it;
- abuse invite codes, for example by creating accounts to collect rewards.
We may suspend or close accounts that do, and remove rewards gained this way.
Your content
What you write stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it only as needed to run the app for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. Your journal leaves your phone only as an encrypted backup or when you ask for a weekly reflection.
AI-written messages
Some messages are written by AI. They may sometimes be inaccurate or not quite fit how you feel. Use your own judgment, and don't rely on them for decisions about your health, safety, money or relationships.
Premium, trials and payments
- Premium is a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. The price is shown before you buy.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel a subscription.
- Free trials are for new subscribers, once. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you're charged.
- Introductory offers (such as a discounted first month after a trial) apply only for the stated period, then the regular price applies.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
- We may change prices or what Premium includes. Price changes follow the store's rules and notice requirements.
Invite and discount codes
Invite codes give a new account and the friend who invited them free Premium time, as shown in the app. Each account can join with one code, within its first week. Inviters can earn up to 12 rewards a year. Codes have no cash value and can't be sold. Discount codes are applied by Apple or Google under their terms. We may change or end these programs, but won't take away rewards already given fairly.
Seasons of journaling
If you have a paid Premium subscription and journal on 30 different days in a season (January to March, April to June, July to September, or October to December), you can claim two weeks of Premium free. It's an App Store promotional offer on the plan you already have and starts at your next renewal. You can claim it during that season or the next, at most twice in any 12 months. Free trials and free time from invite codes don't count as paid. It's currently available on iPhone. We may change or end this program, but won't take away rewards already given.
Our app
Serene, its design, text and logo belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, under these terms and the app store's rules.
If you downloaded Serene from Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple isn't responsible for the app or its support, and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms.
Changes and availability
We work to keep Serene running well, but can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may update, change or stop features. If we change these terms in an important way, we'll tell you in the app first; continuing to use Serene means you accept the new terms.
Liability
Serene is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded, or liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
Ending
You can stop using Serene and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue (like liability) survive.
Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, without affecting the mandatory consumer protections of where you live. Questions? Email support@serene.day.
